I started this painting trying to make a portrait with definite Fantasy elements, instead of just girls with pointed ears or hinted Fantasy. It then evolved to something like the anti-person of Lady Amalthea.

Only afterwards I realized that the background looks exactly like the background of the portrait photos that were always taken at school looked like and that everybody always hated.

Nice painting and neat idea. I agree that the background is a little lacking, but it's not that bad. There are, however, a few anotomic problems with the character, such as:
* her arm is much too large
* her eyes are too low
* her waist is too high

Also what is she picking her teeth with? If it's a dagger, I think it's too small. And is that a collar of some sort, or is that her hair around her neck?

Nice job on the hair; great attention to detail in the dress; and nice facial features--especially like the eyes.

I don't mean to sound overly critical, as this is better than I could do, so I hope that the comments help. Again, neat concept and nice job.
